Grandpas $2 Bill
*Knock Knock* You get off the couch and answer your door. It's your grandfather..He came to wish you a happy birthday. It's kind of strange because he usually just calls and that's the end of it. "Thanks.." you say. "No problem" he takes something out of his pocket. "I think it's time I gave you this, I've gotten my fair share out of it." He gives you a crumpled $2 bill. "You don't see these much anymore, they are a bit rare, especially this one." he says. Without another word he turns around and yells over his shoulder, "you're 18 now, why don't you go down to the arena and bet on a couple matches." He chuckles and slowly gets in his car

This game took me 21.5 hours total. I thought of the idea 2 hours after the theme was announced and worked on it 10 hours Friday and 11.5 hours Saturday. There was absolutely zero prep done before the jam. I am 2-3 months into programming and this was hands down one of the best learning experiences i've had. There were so many small problems I needed to figure out. Like singletons, who knew about those things.. they're great. I feel so dang proud of myself for attempting and COMPLETING this. Anyways, thank you UGJ.

Got "Amazing" luck, bet everything on red, got bankrupt, lost both of my kidneys. 10/10! :D
Nice game and a nice idea. Some sfx and music would've made the experience a bit nicer. One suggestion if you were to continue with this project would be to maybe increase the roster of fighters and give them different stats, so as a player you could for example pick and bet on the quick and lightweight fighter who goes up against a randomly picked slower heavyweight fighter.
thats a really good idea! thank you for that :D
Thank you for your feedback, its a big help
Really fun and interesting game! Well done!
nice game! what did you use for animations?
Thank you! I used the animatedSprite node in Godot. I took this boxer (https://opengameart.org/content/mini-boxing-character) and imported the pictures into the node and it kinda just worked. The hard part was playing one animation at a time without getting a stack overflow (that took a long time to figure out lol) using a yield method (telling it to wait for the animation to end before starting the next line of code) and that saved the day.
I cheered, I cried, and I gambled all my money away... 10/10
this comment really made me laugh. haha thank you for that.
sweet game!
thanks!
